Do we really need a plan?

If you run a business, then it’s probably safe to say yes! A business plan serves as a day to day roadmap, detailing the key objectives required that support your overall business strategy.

How does the process work?

Every situation is unique. However, some common steps include the following:

  • Initial discussion to understand your basic needs
  • Follow up discussion to clarify details and agree the scope and fees for the project
  • Several in-depth discussions to better understand your personal and business vision, develop strategies, and agree on key objectives to be achieved
  • Regular meetings (weekly, fortnightly or monthly) to ensure the strategies and key objectives are being implemented and completed effectively

What industries do you specialise in?

We work with Business Owners from all types and sizes of business which allows us to bring fresh ideas to the table. We bring in the skills, resources and tools that you, the Business Owner, does not have, as you are the expert in your industry.

How many businesses do you work with?

We only work with a limited number of businesses, ensuring that the plan we will create together is implemented in a timely manner and that we are getting results as quickly as possible.

Where are you located, and how do you work with clients outside of your local area?

We are based in Hamilton, New Zealand and meet clients who live within a 30 min radius face to face. For clients not based in the Mighty Waikato region, we rely heavily on phone, email and online meeting tools. On site meetings, if desired, can be agreed when scoping the work.

What are your qualifications?

Helen has a Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) and is a CA member of CA ANZ (Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand). More importantly, Helen has a track record of helping businesses improve their profitability. You can find out more about Helen here

Do you have references?

Certainly. We would be pleased to introduce you to our clients. However, in order to respect the time and generosity of our clients, we provide references as the final step before you sign the engagement letter.

Is there a minimum period of commitment?

We believe that you should not be bound by a contract if it isn’t working for either party. If you wish to terminate for any reason that cannot be resolved by discussion, then one months’ notice of termination must be communicated in writing.

What is your payment structure?

A fixed fee per month is agreed upfront. Payment is due on the 20th of each month.

Business Mastermind Groups

What is a mastermind group?

The purpose of a mastermind group is to be a sounding board for business owners so that they can run successful businesses. “Success” is defined individually by each person; no two people will have the same definition of success.

Objectives of the group include:

  • Sharing ideas and solutions in a creative and confidential environment
  • Sharing best practices; shortening the learning curve
  • Holding each other accountable for achieving the goals they set
  • Sharing goals, success stories, and obstacles to moving forward
  • Offering support and encouragement
  • Helping each other with a common and specific goal
  • Creating an environment to test new business strategies
  • Offering knowledge and advice, as well as perspective
  • Sharing resources, books, videos, websites, vendors, articles, etc.
  • Brainstorming the pros and cons of possible business solutions

What a mastermind group is NOT

It’s not a class. While our group can vote to bring in guest speakers occasionally, the focus of a mastermind group is the brainstorming and accountability support among the group members.

It’s not group coaching. Mastermind groups are about the MEMBERS sharing with each other, not about the Facilitator coaching individuals in a group setting. You get everyone’s feedback, advice and support.

It’s not a networking group. While you may share leads and resources with each other, it is not the objective of the meetings. However, through your connections with other members, you will find plenty of joint venture opportunities, lead sharing, and professional networking.

What is a typical mastermind group agenda?

Our meetings generally follow this format:

  • Greetings
  • Success stories
  • Reflection: Accountability/Goals for the last month
  • Hot Seat: Masterminding/Brainstorming
  • Action Plan: Accountability/Goals for the upcoming month
  • Resources you’d like to share with the group
  • Closing

What is a ‘Hot Seat’?

A Hot Seat is where you get to be in the spotlight for approximately 15 minutes each meeting. You can talk about a specific goal, brainstorm a current challenge you are facing, explore an opportunity that has arisen, or ask for support if needed. The rest of the group is there to offer advice, suggestions, recommendations, resources or specific help. This is one of the most valuable parts of being in a Mastermind, and enables you to move your business, and yourself, forward.

How long is each meeting?

Meetings are held once a month and are two hours long. Members will need to prepare for each meeting by completing a ‘Meeting Preparation Form’ that is returned to the facilitator a week before the meeting.

How many members are in the mastermind group?

There are 5 to 8 members in each group with no competing businesses.

Is there a minimum period of commitment?

Mastermind members are asked to commit to a minimum period of 12 months.  This is to allow members to get to know one another, to form trust, respect and rapport. It also gives members time to plan and implement large goals, dig deeper into problems, solve them, and unravel the places where challenges persist.

What is your payment structure?

A fixed fee per month is agreed upfront. Payment is due on the 20th of each month.
