Hi, I'm Helen Laidlaw

My official title is Founder and Director of Togetherness Co. - but I prefer to think of myself as the sounding board and strategies person you never realised you needed until now!

I am a Business Consultant who likes to keep things simple. I say what I mean and do what I say. After all, business is about people and earning your trust is very important to me.

I love working with businesses that have not yet reached their full potential. Businesses that are more reactive than proactive; businesses that hate disappointing their family, staff and suppliers, but find it is a regular occurrence; businesses that are not generating enough profit to give their owners the financial freedom that they deserve.

I studied accounting and business at The University of Waikato, graduating in 1993 with a Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS). In 1996, I was admitted to the Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) as a CA member. For the past 20+ years, I have worked as a CFO (Chief Financial Officer) within SME’s and public sector environments in multiple countries including New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom.

Having moved around quite a bit in my early years ( from England to Fiji and finally New Zealand ) - I put down roots in the Mighty Waikato many years ago. I live here with my close family and wonderful husband, Mike, and daughter, Gemma. When I’m not helping businesses improve, I love traveling to new places, seeing new things and experiencing different cultures. At home I enjoy spending time with friends and family, the odd adventure race, walking, reading and a nice glass of prosecco on a summer evening.
